ALICE BOORE

Sculptor, Creator and Environmentalist.

My practise seeks influence from many themes such domestic interiors, mental health and the environment. Often these subjects collide as I use Art as a method of processing and understanding the chaotic world around me. By creating works that utilise personal and ready-made materials, I fabricate spaces in which processing mental health issues becomes a physical act of healing and strength.

Utilizing Art as a method of mental-healing is a consistent concept throughout my practise, becoming more imperative under the circumstances of the pandemic. My dependency on nature for mental stability has been magnified under lockdown rules. Like many others, I seek to reconnect with the earth and have created works in which aid this plight. With the limitations of my garden space and raw materials, I analyse and form intimate, meaningful connections with previously unnoticed parts of my natural environment and consider the tensions between the Anthropocene and the Biocene that are highlighted in within this space. Through art, nature and the symbiotic relationship between them,  I heal and protect myself from the chaos of the modern, industrial and anthropocentric world.
