Experimenting with second nature blanket

Updated: Jul 21, 2021

-Thinking of Martin Roth's Persian rugs, I want to grow plants directly onto the blanket to create a more organic connection between myself, the material and mother nature.

-To test, I have made small holes in a pillow case and layed it over a thin layer of soil in a seed tray.

-Using salad leaf seeds (as they grow quickly) I have planted a single seed in each hole.

-Ideally once grown, I can peel the material away from the tray, plantlets intact, like turf.

RESULT:

-Successful until I forgot to water

SECOND ATTEMPT

-Try growing in the blanket. Think Martin Roth.

-Successful rooting of weeds.

-Bringing weeds from Garden to connect more.

- Sewing incorporated and uses materials given by Grandma (personal) with Moss.

-LIVE blanket- organic connections. Some plants successful at rooting others not (need to be replaced).

-Importance of process.
